A Private Disgrace: Lizzie Borden by Daylight

True Crime

~*~Winner of the 1967 Mystery Writers of America ‘Edgar’ Award for Best True-Crime Novel~*~

Lizzie Borden took an axe,
And gave her mother forty whacks,
When she saw what she had done,
She gave her father forty-one.

Lizzie Andrew Borden (b.1860 – d.1927) was tried and acquitted in the 1892 axe murders of her father and stepmother in Fall River, Massachusetts.  Media coverage of the case created a furor throughout the United States reminiscent of the Rosenberg, Claus von Bulow and O.J. Simpson trials.    No other suspect was ever charged with the double homicide, and speculation on the case continues to this day.

“Excellent, insightful account unlike any other…”  –Reader review

The Caliphate: A Post-Apocalyptic Suspense Novel

Post-Apocalyptic Suspense

What if ISIS controlled America?

Eisa McCarthy lives in Caliphate City under the control of the radical Islamic group, the Ghuraba. Seven years ago General Mohammad bin-Rasulullah defeated the United States in a ruthless betrayal and set up their worldwide Caliphate in the ruins of Washington, D.C. The Ghuraba’s supreme holy leader, the Abu al-Ghuraba, claims Eisa’s father gave him control of the U.S. nuclear arsenal, a claim bolstered by the smoldering ashes of many cities and her Syrian-born mother’s testimony. But after her mother is accused of apostasy, she learns her father may not be the ‘martyr’ the Ghuraba claim.

“The parallels the author draws between the current landscape in Syria and Iraq and a future United States are unsettling, as they portray present-day atrocities with unflinching accuracy…” –Dale Amidei, author of ‘Jon’s Trilogy’

Grandmother and the Comet: An Insubstantial Pageant

Literary Fiction

Subtitled an Insubstantial Pageant, this is a potpourri of delicately, deftly styled short stories, autobiographical reminiscences, verses, with a range of humor, poignancy, fantasy and consistent grace. There are the insecurities, jealousies, defeats of childhood; marriages — and failures; character family servants; the artist and his Galatea; the English uncle, a vicar, who lost his only chance through a son. Not important but pleasant reading, drawn from the New Yorker, Harper’s Victoria Lincoln is the author of February Hill.
